Job Description:
- Provide exemplary customer service: interact with customers asking appropriate questions to gain an understanding of their book needs and preferences; provide appropriate book recommendations. Must have current knowledge of children's reading trends and interests for ages 0-17. - Process point-of-sale purchases, and complete register transactions accurately; provide gift wrapping, when requested. - Organize inventory on shelves, ensuring that stacks are neat and arranged as expected. - Assist Children’s Specialist team with merchandising, subscription administration, bulk orders, staff recommendations, and operational duties as requested. - Assist with event planning including the organization, coordination and marketing of book signings, in-store author events, and offsite author visits. - Maintain a neat and clean store environment which might include general cleaning duties such as vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash. - Other responsibilities and projects as requested.
Experience Required:
- Experience with children's literature - Bookstore, book industry, and/or retail experience is preferred.
